Rotherham Away – When Good Times Go Bad

After what seemed like a very long international break, I think all Derby fans were chomping at the bit for yesterday’s trip to Rotherham.

A relatively local and winnable fixture, The Rams in fine fettle, a sold out away end and the Lampard effect in full motion. Not even a flash train strike could spoil the anticipation.

Something Comes From Nothing

From day one, Frank Lampard had made no secret of his desire to provide opportunity for academy players in the Derby first team and has certainly walked the talk providing game time, contracts and high praise to Max Lowe, Jayden Bogle, Mason Bennett and Luke Thomas.

What does not seem to have received so much attention is the brutal axing of many of the aforementioned players peers, many of whom were well established members of the Derby U23 team. Read the rest of this entry

Hull Away Part 2 – This time it’s serious

Yesterday at Hull was what away days were made for. Glorious sunny day, great laugh with friends and family, good beer, nice food and a late Rams winner to round off proceedings.

Here’s my thoughts on Hull away part deux. Read the rest of this entry

Hull Away Part 1 – Tigers Mauled!

Last night I went to the first of our double header against Hull to witness the Rams thumping 4-0 win in the Carabao Cup.

Never before has six English pounds delivered so much value at a game of football with goals and chances galore and the all new Rams forward line generally running riot! Here’s some thoughts on what went down.

Derby County – New Season Barometer

A new season is upon us again and what a summer it’s been for Derby County.

Starting with the shock departure of Gary Rowett and pronouncements of extreme austerity measures to offset imminent financial meltdown, we begin the season with Frank Lampard as our gaffer and The Super Rams all over the transfer market like its 2015 all over again!

What better way to pull together the madness, than the traditional new season Ramspace Derby County Barometer. Read the rest of this entry

Notts County – Post Match Bullets

Yesterday I went to see The Rams at Notts County in the first pre season friendly of 2018/2019 season and, of course, the first of the Frank Lampard era.

The sun was shining, 4000 Rams fans were in good voice and you will know the team won 4-1. Whilst its clearly stupidly early days, here’s a few thoughts on yesterday’s proceedings. Read the rest of this entry

Madness, Madness, They call it Madness

Not more than a month ago, the Rams were 45 minutes from a date at Wembley and another golden shot at the Premier League.

Fast forward 4 weeks and the Championship looks like a 6 season Football manager save, with crazy stuff happening all over the place and DCFC, as you would expect, being right in the eye of this bonkers storm. Read the rest of this entry

Gary Rowett Summer To Do List

Following Monday nights defeat to Fulham the focus has swiftly moved to what’s next for The Rams and specifically this summers transfer activity.

Whilst no-one can doubt that Fulham deserved to win the tie over the two legs, it’s also a fair observation that Gary Rowett actually won the tactical battle, but simply didn’t have the quality of player or legs in the final third to execute his plan.

Thus, once again, The Rams enter a summer trying to work out how we turn a decent season into an ultimately successful one. Against a backdrop of stated austerity from Mel, Rowett’s “to do” list is lengthy. Here’s what on it. Read the rest of this entry

Step Up The Morphine

The EFL scheduled season proper has come to a close and Derby have achieved their minimum stated objective of the play offs whilst significantly reducing their net transfer spend.

With a previously all conquering, but now somewhat out of sorts Fulham side due to visit Pride Park on Friday, it’s definitely all to play for in the final sprint. Read the rest of this entry

Derby County Barometer April 2018

As ever with Derby County the last few months have been a full-on, emotional rollercoaster, with a slump to test even the most rose-tinted Rams fans, the Forest/Cardiff banter period and then the recent upturn in fortunes.

What better way to pull it all together than with an all new Ramspace barometer on my birthday! Here we go…. Read the rest of this entry
