Rinse, No Repeat – Part 2

It wasn’t too long ago that a Derby midfield three made up of Hendrick Hughes and Bryson, in his pomp, was widely regarded as one of the best in the division. When Steve McClaren added George Thorne to the mix it seemed like the final piece of the jigsaw.

A few years, a few managers, some awful injuries and some even more awful recruitment later, our midfield is simply a mess and the number one area for refresh over the close season.

In part 2 of this short series, we pick the bones out of the Rams Midfield and what needs done this summer. Read the rest of this entry

Rinse, No Repeat – Part 1

Following the back to back disasters of the Bristol City and Cardiff games, Steve McClaren appealed to Rams fans not to over react and pointed to the great turnaround in form since his arrival.

Whilst Steve has undoubtedly pulled up trees to even get the Rams in the mix at all, this same group of players are again having the same collapse in form at the same time of year.

At the time of writing, Derby sit 11 points outside the play offs (which looks a lot of ground to make up when you consider the teams above them) so thoughts are inevitably turning to next season.

I think most Derby fans would agree that something now must give with this group of players who on their day are great, but simply do not have the X factor required to get us out this league. Thus in the first of a series of articles this week, we consider who stays and who goes, starting with the goalkeepers and defenders. Read the rest of this entry

Post Match Bullets – Bristol City Fiasco

Home games against winnable opposition in the Championship have a regular habit of not going to plan. However, I don’t think anyone saw the outright madness of yesterday’s clash with Bristol City coming. Here’s my view on the key happenings. Read the rest of this entry

Derby County Barometer January 2017

Although this has been by far the lowest profile transfer window from a DCFC viewpoint for some time, as ever, there’s still been plenty going on this month for Derby fans to chew over.

Thus what better way to pull it all together than a well overdue return for the classic Ramspace Barometer. Check it….. Read the rest of this entry

Post Match Bullets – West Brom

I went to West Brom yesterday with little or no expectation, knowing that I was going to have a few beers, a top laugh with family and friends and hopeful that my team could put up a fight, maybe score a goal and anything else was a bonus. A bit like going to watch Derbyshire Cricket if you get involved in that.

What happened was a new entry into the top 5 away days that I have been to ever. Here’s my thoughts on an absolutely tremendous day for DCFC and all involved. Read the rest of this entry

Nasty Boys

Happy new year to all Rams fans and especially those of you who continue to read our stuff. Apologies updates have been thin for the last few weeks due to technology issues, but these have now been sorted.

For as long as I can remember, it has been a common mantra of Rams fans that we are “too nice”.  With the first round of the January transfer window having us linked with two, in my view, unsavoury characters, this could soon change.

Here’s our view on the Lansbury & Martin situations. Read the rest of this entry

3 (Nil) 6 (Wins) 5(th place) Degree View of Rams Forest Glory

Today was another great day for the resurgent Rams as we despatched a hapless Notts Forest with minimum fuss and, ultimately, without any problem at all.

If you are reading this you were probably at the game or watching it on TV, so you don’t need a match report from me.  However, here’s some observations on the days proceedings and this increasingly impressive Derby team. Read the rest of this entry

The Futureheads

I always think that international breaks are blogging Valhalla as it’s the one time you can safely post to your hearts content, without a Rams game two days later or, more recently, a bit of DCFC internal drama to make your whole article irrelevant.

Whilst I always think this, I never really walk the talk so following the double header of U-23 games I went to before the Wolves game, here’s a quick update on the Rams next generation. Read the rest of this entry

I Still Believe In Alchemy

Derby County under the stewardship of Mel Morris is a football club that has, sadly, become only too familiar to change and general turbulence. However, even by the rollercoaster standards of the last 17 months, this last 6 weeks or so has seen new levels of mayhem at our club – only to inexplicably end up exactly where we started, with Stevie Mac at the helm trying to make like its 2013 all over again. Departure Lounge – Chris Martin

Since Wolves first bid for Chris Martin some weeks ago, debate has raged amongst Rams fans as to whether we should take the opportunity to sell him and freshen up our attacking options.

With Chris now on loan at Fulham for the rest of the season and highly unlikely to wear a Derby shirt again (certainly not under Pearson), Rams fan still seem divided as to whether this was a good move or not. Read the rest of this entry
