11th – Craig Bryson

Behind the window today is DCFC hero midfielder Craig Bryson.

With this week’s news of further injury troubles and the transfer window about to re-open, this season is starting to look like another one of frustration for Bryso. Thus we thought it only right to remind everyone what an absolute legend he is.

Signing from Killy for an almost unbelievable fee around the £400k mark, there has not been many better signings in modern era Derby County history.

I remember looking at his twitter around the time of the signing and seeing him talking about a close season run he has just done in the sunshine ending with #fucked. Straight away I loved him.

You don’t need me to recall his many triumphs, goals and awards as his form and goals just got better and better – culminating in his phenomenal 2013/2014 season including his Forest hat trick.

I always thought Bryso was the sort of player who regularly ran rings around Derby when we were in the doledrums and his energy, commitment and no little skill was really something to behold and be proud of as he regularly drove on the Super Rams.

It was a travesty he was left out at Wembley and in many ways I don’t think he’s ever got past that. The following season, after nearly joining Burnley, he had his moments (he was superb against Chelsea in the League Cup and his winner at Watford was epic) but was never quite the same seemingly struggling with McClaren’s instructions and (as rumour has it) maybe with the man himself.

Rejuvenated in pre-season and now playing for a manger who clearly rates and likes him, this injury has knocked him back again.

With the club already going big on the midfield and no doubt ready to do so again in the next two windows, I really hope his season isn’t over. Craig Bryson more than anyone deserves to wear a Rams shirt in the Premier League.

…..And he like his haggis, his haggis, his haggis, He washes it down with jaeger, with jaeger, with jaeger….
