Derby County – The Home Straight
After yesterdays draw with Norwich there was some frankly ludicrous negativity online and on the radio. Yes we had a bad week, but we are still very much in the leading pack with the Xmas period and transfer window imminent.
One of Steve’s Mantra’s is that he doesn’t look at the table until the last 10 games. His theory being that you just make sure you are in contention at that point and that’s where the season starts. Apparently that was how Fergie approached every season at United.
On that basis I recently took a look at scheduled run in to the end of the season.
The last 10 games starts with a tough week at the end of March with a triple header of Norwich away, Boro at Home then Wolves away. However once we hit April its a different picture. Check this out:-
The Rams now, would fancy five wins minimum out of that lot. If you consider most of these teams will have nothing to play for, consider George Thorne will be back, consider a Plan B in place after the January window (Ross McCormack is back in the gossip links and if I keep suggesting Shaun Maloney, do you think someone might listen) and its Premier league here we come.
There’s a nice thought for the day.
Come on you Rams!
