Rams Academy produces International
With the Rams Academy in the spotlight more than ever, there is great optimism that we might produce a player who could really “make it” now that the conveyor belt has started rolling. What has gone under the radar is that an Academy graduate made his international debut a couple of weeks ago in a friendly against Croatia. The only problem is – we released him almost two years to the day.
Some of you may have noticed this but for those who haven’t, the man in question is Henrik Ojamaa of Motherwell and Estonia. Ojamaa joined the Rams Academy during the Jewell era and served his two years before being awarded a one year professional contract. He played for the reserves, had a month at Stafford Rangers in the Conference North and was then released along with J-Mac, Teale etc.
He then pitched up in Germany with Second Division Alemannia Aachen, before unsuccessful spells in Holland and Finland. In January 2012, he went on trial at Motherwell and the rest, as they say, is history. He went on to win young player of the month and score 9 goals in 21 matches (14 starts). He’s now an international and we’re still looking for a striker!
Here’s some of his highlights:
