Non League Day

This Saturday, September 3rd, is the second official Non League Day. In a nutshell – its an international weekend so why not go and support your local non-league side? International weekends can be boring at the best of times and watching a non-league match is a nice reminder of the good old days of football. Go with a few mates, walk around as you please and have a beer without having to neck it in five minutes.

I’ve been watching Borrowash Vics off-and-on for the past couple of seasons and persuaded a few mates to come down on Bank Holiday Monday. Standing on a terrace with a pint, it was almost like the Bundesliga in miniature and I think most who came had a good time. Gadsby might not have succeeded with his Pride Park Plaza plan but Vics have stormed ahead with patio seating outside the clubhouse and pub-style benches elsewhere.

If you’re thinking of getting involved in non-league day, the Vics are at home to Carlton Town on Saturday in the FA Cup. For more information about non-league day go to: http://www.nonleagueday.co.uk/
