Post Match Thoughts – Donny Away
Last night I went to watch the Rams batter Donny and I’m still buzzing. For those who didn’t go, make no mistake, the scoreline was a travesty and 4-1 or 5-2 would have been a much fairer reflection. Herewith my thoughts:-
- The first half an hour of this game was as good as I’ve ever seen a Derby team play ever. It was literally like watching Real Madrid play aggressively against Crewe. i.e. two teams trying to play football, but one being massively better than the other.
- The sheer pace of our passing and movement was like nothing you’ve ever seen from a Rams team. Doncaster couldn’t live with it and how we weren’t 3 or 4 up at HT was a mystery.
- Alberto Bueno is utter class and is almost too good for the Championship. Hands up who still thinks selling Hulse and getting Alberto on loan was a bad idea?
- Commons repeated his Middlesbrough trick with style. After missing the mother of all sitters, his two finishes were class and, as sspaceram rightly pointed out, he’s our matchwinner – regardless of who’s playing up front.
- Luke Moore played really well last night and as the saying goes, “looks like a player”. Kuqi is a warrior and could be good for 12-18 months but Moore looks like he might be a better longer term bet.
- How great is it to see the Rams in a single digit league position? This season is starting to get really exciting and if we can keep this up for another month we should be right in the mix.
